St. Mary’s,

Thornton-le-Moors

Originally serving the 5 ancient townships of Thornton-le-Moors, Elton, Wimbolds Trafford, Dunham Hill and Hapsford, there are records of a church on this site in the Domesday Book (1086), with late 9th or early 10th century remains also apparent.

St. James the Great, Ince.

Legend has it that it was fairies that decided the site of the church in Ince! The present church is built with local stone, but is from a mixture of ages, and is surrounded by an important graveyard,
